Barloworld Gets More for MoD Charities
4/7/2008
The MoD’s preferred supplier of forklift trucks and materials handling equipment, Barloworld Handling raised over £3,000 for MoD charity SSAFA at this year’s DVD event, held at Millbrook, Bedfordshire.
Barloworld Handling had a significant presence at the DVD show in June and helped raise the money with a remote controlled tank challenge held on the stand and some sought-after prizes for the event’s charity auction.
The winner of the tank challenge was Gunner Smith of the Royal Horse Artillery (RHA) based at Tidworth who completed the course in an amazing 6.63 seconds and won the top prize of an Apple IPod Touch.
As Barloworld sponsors a professional cycling team who are currently in action in the Tour de France, the company’s prizes for the auction had a strong cycling theme and included a Bianchi racing bike and a ride in the team’s official tour car during this year’s Tour of Britain race.
“The DVD Show is an important event in Barloworld’s diary” says Alex Russett, Commercial Manager for Barloworld Public Sector. “We can network with our defence sector customers and communicate directly about the service and products we supply to help keep MoD logistics on the move”.
Barloworld demonstrated a selection of equipment from its extensive Hyster materials handling range on its stand including the latest Fortens H2.50FT and H5.00FT counterbalance trucks an ATEX explosion protected J1.60XMT electric truck as well as a Claas tractor.
Barloworld is the preferred supplier of forklift trucks and materials handling equipment to the MoD and maintains over 4,000 units of equipment across almost 600 MoD establishments, including 18 overseas locations.
