Barloworld helps bring giant spider to life
Barloworld short term hire proved to be the ideal solution for Liverpool’s giant spider problem this September. For anyone who may have missed the news reports, La Princesse a 37 tonne, 15m high mechanical spider roamed the streets and buildings of the 2008 European City of Culture as part of a week-long street theatre piece. In order to help build and transport equipment for the spider Barloworld provided a number of Hyster trucks from 4 to 16ton capacity. The equipped was hired by the appropriately named Unusual Rigging Company and the work was carried out at a top secret location near Liverpool docks area to maximize the impact of the launch. It's estimated some 250,000 people visited the city centre to see the attraction over 5 days.
