Barloworld to help the heroes at the DVD Show
6/5/2009
Barloworld Handling, the company that manages the British Armed Service’s materials handling fleet, will be exhibiting a range of equipment at this year’s DVD event, in Millbrook from 24-25 June, and raising money for the ‘Help for Heroes’ charity.
Barloworld is the sole supplier of Hyster equipment in the UK, and has a long standing relationship with the MoD via the General support Group, DSDA and DSG, maintaining over 3,500 forklift trucks and other types of lifting / handling equipment across almost 600 MoD establishments, including 18 overseas locations.
The company will showcase a number of the latest trucks in its range including the new 7000kg capacity Fortens model and other specialist materials handling equipment. The company will also demonstrate its new fleet reporting solution. Experienced members from the Barloworld team will be on hand to answer any questions and provide advice.
“DVD 2009 is an excellent opportunity for Barloworld to interact with the IPT’s, Business stream management and our customers / users” says Gary Newell, Director of Barloworld. “It also enables us to show our support for the MoD communities that we work in”.
Visitors to the stand will be able to take part in a Crazy Golf competition with a chance to win a daily prize, and help Barloworld to raise money for the ‘Help for Heroes’ charity which raises funds to support those wounded in Britain’s current conflicts.
Barloworld Handling employees have been especially active this year in supporting the ‘Help for Heroes’ charity through a series of sponsored walks. Mark Ward from Barloworld is part of a team taking part in this year’s ‘Big Yomp’ challenge which is on course to raise over £20,000 for the charity. The ‘Big Yomp’ consists of a 75 mile walk in the Peak District, averaging 15 miles a day for 5 days and emulates the march from Ajax Bay to Port Stanley during the Falklands Conflict.
“Our stand at last year’s event was a great success, as visitors helped us to raise over £2,500 for service charities through a competition and dinner auction” Gary continues. “It’s a tough target to beat, but it would be an excellent way for us, and visitors to our stand, to show support for the Help for Heroes charity”.
Barloworld’s Defence Logistics Support Division offers an extensive range of solutions to the Defence Sector. From specialist handling equipment, fleet management and site logistics analysis to short term hire equipment to meet surge demands it can supply a total solution to almost any materials handling challenge.
